MORANG, Sept 23: With a man dying of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) on Wednesday, the COVID-19 death toll in Province 1 has reached 57.
An 83-year-old man from Bhadrapur-10 of Jhapa district died while undergoing treatment at Biratnagar-based Birat Hospital.

The man was admitted to Birat Hospital on Sept 19 and tested positive for the virus two days later, according to Dr Puru Koirala of the hospital. “He was also suffering from high fever, pneumonia, kidney disease and breathing difficulties,” he added.
Of the 57 individuals who died of COVID-19 in Province 1, 40 were males and 17 were females.
