Contractor, who was on the run after swindling quake victims out of Rs 6.6 million, arrested

LAMJUNG, Nov 2: Lamjung police have arrested a contractor who was absconding after taking money from the earthquake victims, saying that he would rebuild their houses destroyed by the earthquake of 2015. The government provided Rs 3 00,000 to each quake victim.

LAMJUNG, Nov 2: Lamjung police have arrested a contractor who was absconding after taking money from the earthquake victims, saying that he would rebuild their houses destroyed by the earthquake of 2015. The government provided Rs 3 00,000 to each quake victim.



According to the police, contractor Yam Bahadur Thokar, 47, a resident of Ammasbesi, Makwanpur District, Bakaiya Rural Municipality-10, who had won the contract to build the houses of the earthquake victims, was arrested after three years.

DSP Prakash Shrimal said that he was arrested as he had swindled the quake victims out of Rs 6.6 million.


After a complaint was filed against the contractor, who had been absconding for three years by giving false assurances to the quake victims, a joint team from the District Police Office, Lamjung and Police Range, Lalitpur, arrested him on October 20.
