BIRATNAGAR, Sept 11: CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli has said that the children of Nepali citizens having obtained the citizenship by birth should get the citizenship by descent.
Talking to journalists in Biratnagar Airport on Saturday, UML Chairman said that the government should unveil a new bill on citizenship by amending the current bill on citizenship adding that a child of a citizen having obtained the citizenship of Nepal by birth would acquire the citizenship of Nepal by descent. "The amendment bill will be passed in three days," Oli argued.

On the occasion, Oli accused the government of politicizing the issue of citizenship.
Oli also asked the ruling parties not to engage in vote politics over the issue of citizenship.
Chairman Oli protested the government decision to appoint and transfer of officials as the parliamentary election is just two months away.
