KATHMANDU, July 20: Volleyball player Pratibha Mali has received collective cash support of Rs 450,000 from her well wishers and fans. The amount was collected to support voting campaign of the peoples' choice award of the Pulsar Sports Award scheduled for Thursday.
Pratibha is among the five nominees of the peoples' choice award to be decided through SMS voting and Facebook likes.
Pratibha received Rs 140,000 under initiation of former national volleyball players Ram Shrestha, Ramila Tandukar, Roman Shrestha and Kailash Bhatta who are currently residing in the US. Similarly, former volleyball players Khem Purja, Sanju Purja, and Mukti who are currently in Australia sent her Rs 56,000 to facilitate her voting campaign. She received an additional Rs 10,000 support from Durga Lal Kandel, who is currently in Dubai.
Meanwhile, national volleyball team vice captain Manju Gurung handed her Rs 206,555 sent from America and Australia.
Speaking during the cash handover ceremony, Gurung extended her good wishes to Pratibha and said that the nomination in the sports award was itself a win. “None of the nominees loses in the Pulsar Sports Award and the nomination itself is a victory,” she said.
According to New Diamond coach Kumar Rai, who is leading Pratibha's voting campaign, they have collected more than Rs 450,00 for voting campaign.
