Breaking: PM Dahal wins vote of confidence, garners 268 votes

KATHMANDU, Jan 10: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has garnered a total 268 votes in the vote of confidence held in parliament. All political parties exception People's Front Nepal and Nepal Workers and Peasants Party voted in support of Prime Minister Dahal.

KATHMANDU, Jan 10: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has garnered a total 268 votes in the vote of confidence held in parliament. All political parties exception People's Front Nepal (PFN) and Nepal Workers and Peasants Party (NWPP) voted in support of Prime Minister Dahal. 



There are a total of 275 members in the House of Represenatives (HoR) that elects the country's new prime minister. Prime Minister Dahal needed to only 138 votes in parliament to win vote of confidence.

This is the highest votes a prime minister has ever received in vote of confidence in parlaiment. Earlier,  the PFN and NWPP, which have one lawmaker each, had announced to vote against PM Dahal in parliament. Only two votes- Chitra Bahadur KC of PFN and Prem Suwal of NWPP-- were cast against PM Dahal.
