BP Koirala praised at book launch

KATHMANDU, Nov 24: Former President Dr Ram Baran Yadav has advised republican and communist political parties to come together for national unity, geographical integrity and strengthening democracy in the country.

KATHMANDU, Nov 24: Former President Dr Ram Baran Yadav has advised republican and communist political parties to come together for national unity, geographical integrity and strengthening democracy in the country.


Addressing the launch of a book titled 'BP Ko Bidroha' (revolution of BP) in Kathmandu on Friday, Yadav insisted that solutions to all problems in the country should be found through the constitution.

Indicating at the the grievances of Madhes-based political parties about some provisions of the constitution, Yadav suggested to the Nepali Congress (NC) to work as bridge between Madhes and Kathmandu.


“My heart wrenches looking at the current condition of the party established by BP Koirala,” Former President Yadav said remembering late Koirala.


Yadav also suggested to Koirala's son and NC General Secretary Shashanka, who was in the audience row at the function, to work to bring Madhes and Pahad together and strengthen his party by recalling the past struggle.


Also speaking at the function Former Prime Minister and coordinator of Naya Shakti Party Dr Baburam Bhattarai praised BP Koirala for his leadership. He suggested that the current NC leadership should learn to become both firm and flexible according to the circumstances as BP did during his struggle for democracy.


Political analyst Hari Sharma, educationist Kedar Bhakta Mathema and critic Gyanu Pandey commented on the book during the release event in Kathmandu. The book written by journalist and associate professor of journalism at Tribhuvan University Jagat Nepal, comprises analytical contents about different aspects of Koirala's political life and his struggle for democracy and multi-party system in the country. According to author the book has revealed some incidents in the life of Koirala that were not made public by the former prime minister. The book is the first publication of Baahrakhari Books.
