KATHMANDU, June 9: Businesspersons representing the Bhaktapur Chambers of Commerce and Industry have held discussions with Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba focusing development activities in the district on Wednesday.

Chamber Chairperson Shiva Prasad Manandhar led the delegation to the PM and requested him to take special efforts for infrastructure development in Bhaktapur. The delegation also submitted a 11-point memorandum to PM Deuba.

The government commitment to institutional development of democracy and complete adherence to constitution was requested for propping up Bhaktapur's development, Manandhar said. He appreciated the fact that the local level elections were conducted peacefully because of the resolution of PM Deuba, which, Manandhar argued, had encouraged businesspersons hoping for economic prosperity and political stability in the country.

Other points the delegation put forth before the PM were establishment of a chemical fertilizer factory within the district for commercial farming, running of agro retail market center for the commercialization of agriculture, necessary amendments to laws to build competitive capacity of Nepali products, among others.
