KATHMANDU, Dec 13: At least 17 passengers were killed in a bus accident that took place in Chalal Ganeshthan of Bethanchok Rural Municipality-4 in Kavrepalanchok district on Tuesday evening.
Superintendent of Police Chakra Raj Joshi at the District Police Office, Kavrepalanchwok, said 21 other passengers onboard the ill-fated bus were injured.

The bus with registration number Ba 3 Kha 4385 met with the accident while returning from a Bratabandh (sacred thread-giving ceremony) in Bethanchok Rural Municipality-5. The ill-fated bus is reported to have experienced a brake failure and subsequently overturned on the roadside.
SP Joshi said all the injured passengers are undergoing treatment at Scheer Memorial Hospital in Banepa and Dhulikhel Hospital. According to him, the number of deceased could increase further.
