KATHMANDU, Sept 9: Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals, a leading hospital chain in India, has said that it will now charge domestic tariff to Nepali patients.

Organizing a press meet in Kathmandu on Friday, the representatives of Apollo Hospitals said that the patients from Nepal now have to pay the same costs as their Indian counterparts for treatment at any Apollo hospital across India. Earlier, Nepali patients were charged at par with the international patients. India has been one of major destinations for Nepali patients to go for the treatment.

The hospital chain also said that the registration charge has also been waived for all Nepali patients. A statement issued in the press meet said this step by the hospital was an attempt to provide quality healthcare at affordable prices for patients from Nepal.

"This initiative by Apollo Hospital is a gesture of the friendship and trust we share with the people of Nepal and I am sure that this will help more people from Nepal to access the world class healthcare services at all our network hospitals at a reduced cost," the statement quoted Gagan Sehgal, chief operating officer of Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals, as saying.
