KATHMANDU, Jan 26: Armed police Force SP Balaram Pokharel has died in a road accident in Bara on Saturday evening. Chief District Officer (CDO) of the district Ganesh Bhattarai has sustained injuries and is reported to be in critical condition.
Two youths killed in Jhapa road mishap
The ill-fated vehicle (Na 1 Jha 1663) belonging to CDO, Bara en route to Kalaiya from Hariwan hit a parked tractor at the Pachaha Khola of the highway. SP Pokharel died on the spot whereas CDO Bhattarai has been rushed to Birgunj for further treatment. However, it is reported that preparation is underway to airlift CDO Bhattarai to Kathmandu.
According to Inspector Subhash Hamal of Police Office, Simara, bodyguards of both CDO Bhattarai and SP Pokharel and driver of the vehicle has sustained minor injuries and are receiving treatment in the local health center.
