Bill on Nepal Media: Agitating FNJ interacting with experts, editors over proposed media law today

KATHMANDU, May 12: As part of its ongoing five-day agitation, Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ), the umbrella organization of the journalists, is holding interaction with legal experts, editors, media experts and former presidents of the FNJ over the proposed changes in the media law today afternoon.

KATHMANDU, May 12: As part of its ongoing five-day agitation, Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ), the umbrella organization of the journalists, is holding interaction with legal experts, editors, media experts and former presidents of the FNJ over the proposed changes in the media law today afternoon.



The interaction is taking place today at 3 pm at the FNJ headquarters in the capital. The FNJ has condemned the bill and announced the protest programs against the proposed provisions aimed at suppressing independent media. 


Issuing a press statement, the central committee of the federation said, “The provisions of the proposed bill will bring the Media Council under the control of the government and curtail press freedom.”

The federation has also demanded that the government immediately withdraw the bill from the Parliament, hold a meeting of all stakeholders and revise the bill.
