KATHMANDU, March 24: Police have apprehended 83 men and 9 women in Kathmandu on charges of indiscriminate smearing of color to others and rioting during Holi celebrations.

According to DSP Dipesh Basyal of the District Police Range, Kathmandu, those detained will be handed over to their families, while legal proceedings will be initiated in certain cases.
In efforts to ensure a safer Holi, police personnel had bolstered security measures across the valley. Plainclothes police were deployed for traffic checks, while aerial surveillance via drones was employed to monitor the festivities.
