KATHMANDU, Jan 17: Fifty two cricketers have been called for the selection of the national cricket team of Nepal to play the upcoming ICC World Cricket League Championship matches against Kenya at Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground on March 11 and 13.
The players were called on the basis of their performance of last year, according to Raman Shiwakoti, technical analyst of Cricket Nepal. He also informed that the players will be divided into four different groups and take part in the selection matches from January 19 to 24 before finalizing the national team.
A selection committee comprising ICC representative Venkatapathy Raju, national team head coach Jagat Tamata and captain Paras Khadka will select the final squad.
Nepal is currently sixth in the eight-team World Cricket League Championship. Nepal has won three and lost five matches of the tournament which sees top four teams securing berth for the 2019 World Cup Qualifiers.
Papua New Genie is on top of the points table with six wins from eight matches. In the last fixture of this competition played in August, Nepal had faced a loss and win against the Netherlands.
