KATHMANDU, June 3: Unilever Nepal along with Nepal Army have joined hands in “Mountain Cleaning Campaign 2021,” with a commitment to make the world a sustainable habitat.
A press statement issued by Unilever Nepal said the vision of a garbage-free world has always been at the heart of Unilever’s strategies. The amount of garbage thrown around nature is one of the main causes of deaths in wildlife and is also degrading the beauty of the mountains. It endangers the health of the world’s environment.
More than 35,000 kg of garbage collected from mountains
The mountain cleaning campaign collected over 5,020kg of garbage from Mt Dhaulagiri, out of which 300kg are biodegradable wastes. The decaying waste was handed over to Dhaulagiri municipality while 4,720kg of non-biodegradable garbage has been handed over for recycling and management to respective authorities.
