438 banned Indian currency notes of Rs 500 denomination found in Birgunj

KATHMANDU, Aug 7: Some 438 banned Indian currency notes of Rs 500 denomination have been found in Birgunj. 



The money was found in Rajat Jayanti Chowk road section of Birgunj Metropolitan City-16.

A team deployed from the Inaruwa Police Station recovered the amount during a regular check on that road section. 


Police have arrested 29-year-old Anil Kumar, a resident of Motihari in East Champaran district of India. The police suspected Kumar as he looked suspicious while crossing the Nepal-India border in Raxaul.


According to the police, 438 notes of banned Indian currency have been seized. Furthermore, the police have handed Kumar along with the recovered amount over to the Birgunj Customs Office, Parsa, for further investigation.
