KATHMANDU, May 6: Total 38 metric tons of garbage was removed from major rivers of the Kathmandu valley and ring road area on Saturday.
Fifteen metric tons of garbage was managed from Lalitpur area across the Thapathali bridge as part of the 208th week of the Bagmati Clean-Up Mega Campaign.
26 metric tons waste removed from Valley rivers and Ring Road
Campaigner Umesh Bohara told Rastriya Samachar Samiti that some 700 volunteers including from Nepal Army, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, Kathmandu Metropolitan City, High-Powered Bagmati Civilization Integrated Development Committee joined today's clean-up campaign.
Similarly, a group comprising 25 people of Yamuna Mission also joined today's programme.
Likewise, one metric ton of garbage was collected from Bagmati River Clean-Up Campaign at Guheshwori area. The Rudramati River clean-up campaign was conducted in and around Ratopul area where one metric ton of garbage was managed and six metric tons of waste was removed from Bishnumati river at Anandatole of Tarkeshwor municipality.
A metric ton of waste was collected and managed from Bagmati Clean-up Campaign along the Tilganga area.
Similarly, 14 tons of waste was removed from Basundhara-based BP Memorial Hospital area as part of the fourth week of Ring Road Clean-Up Campaign.
