The massacre at the palace, which used to be under high security all the time, is still shrouded in mystery. A high-level probe committee convened by the then chief justice to investigate the killings had reported that Prince Dipendra shot dead his family members before he could shoot himself to death on June 1, 2001. The then Speaker Taranath Ranabhat had made the investigation report public. But the ordinary public does not believe the report.
