21 accidents, 37 deaths in Karnali during Dashain

KARNALI, Oct 18: There have been 21 accidents and deaths of 37 people during Dashain period in Karnali, according to the Provincial Police Office, Surkhet.

KARNALI, Oct 18: There have been 21 accidents and deaths of 37 people during Dashain period in Karnali, according to the Provincial Police Office, Surkhet.



However, the most devastating accident of this period took place in Mugu on 12 October. At least 32 people were killed and 13 others injured when a bus heading to Mugu district headquarters from Nepalgunj met with an accident at Pinatpane River in Chhayannath Rara Municipality.

According to Inspector Jeevan Lamichhane, Information Officer at the Provincial Police Office, three persons were killed and 22 were injured in nine accidents in Surkhet, two dead in Rukum West and Jumla, seven injured in four accidents in Dailekh and 16 injured in two accidents in Salyan.


Similarly, there were two road accidents in Mugu, one each in Jajarkot, Rukum West, Jumla and Kalikot. A total of 11 people have committed suicide in the province during Dashain according to the police.
