The ministry also asked students not to go to schools in these districts owing to the rapid COVID-19 infection rate of late. A secretary-level meeting held on Thursday, however, did not take any decision regarding the closure of educational institutions nor did it direct them to shut down amid massive spike in new cases of COVID-19.

According to Dr Samir Adhikari, assistant spokesperson for the ministry, the people are urged not to go to restaurants and clubs after 7PM. Similarly, going to sports activities, gymnasiums, public worship at temples, fairs, conferences, meetings and gatherings, cinemas, shopping malls, theatres, party palaces, health clubs, and swimming pools is to be avoided.

The ministry’s Health Emergency Operation Center hinted at closing down the places where large crowds are formed.
