1,441 mountaineers receive permits to climb mountains for autumn season

KATHMANDU, Dec 5: A total of 1,441 individuals from 176 expedition teams took permits to climb snow-capped mountains for the autumn season this year. The government collected royalties worth Rs 93.10 million from them.

KATHMANDU, Dec 5: A total of 1,441 individuals from 176 expedition teams took permits to climb snow-capped mountains for the autumn season this year. The government collected royalties worth Rs 93.10 million from them.



According to the Department of Tourism, 1,110 men and 331 women were issued permits to climb 49 mountain peaks, as of the November-end.  The expedition teams paid foreign currency of US $722,375 to the state coffers.

Of the aspirants, 475 individuals took permits for climbing Ama Dablam (6,814 meters). Mount Manaslu (8,163 m) was the second choice of the mountaineers, with 404 individuals receiving permits for climbing this mountain followed by Mount Himlung (7,126 m).
