Nepal and Swiss parliamentarians to form 'Friendship Group'

KATHMANDU, April 4: Swiss Ambassador to Nepal Elisabeth von Capeller paid a courtesy call on Speaker Krishna Bahadur Mahara. 



At a meeting held at the office of Speaker in Singha Durbar today, Speaker Mahara said efforts should be stepped up towards establishing 'Friendship Group' between the parliamentarians of two countries so as to strengthen parliamentary bond.

During the meet, Ambassador Capeller extended congratulations and best wishes to Mahara on being elected the Speaker. 


On the occasion, Speaker Mahara said that they have brought the decade-old conflict to conclusion through peace process and now are effortful to take the country to the path of prosperity. 


"Much of the works of peace process have been done. A new constitution has been framed", Mahara said, adding that the country is moving to prosperity after holding all three tiers of elections. 


During the meeting, Ambassador Capeller said that there have been very good relations between Switzerland and Nepal while stressing the need to exchange experiences to make the bilateral relations further cordial, according to the Speaker's Secretariat.
